2022 World Cup

Against the backdrop of the cost of living crisis and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, do you think that the 2022 World Cup has received too much attention?

Most People tend to remember the latest thing more than the old. I think that’s the reason why the 2022 World Cup has received much more attention than the inflation and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the first two months of the Russian invasion, people were shocked and kept their eyes on any action from Russia and Ukraine. However, as time passed by, less and less reports about it were released, and Ukraine had to speak up for themselves as much as possible in order to arouse people’s attention.

In terms of inflation, take myself as an example, I am resigned to the rising prices. After seeing several reports about restaurants raising their prices, I knew these were irreversible and unstoppable. Instead of focusing on the trend that couldn't be changed, I decided to put efforts on what is controllable. To make my life happier, watching the 2022 World Cup could have been a good choice in a relaxing time.

Big events happen in the world every minute, but not all of them are noticed. Generally speaking, people tend to seek an easy and happy life rather than suffering. They have limited attention on global news due to their lives being a bunch of chaos already. So, bad things would be forgotten and good things would be remembered.
