Bossware



What is your opinion on the subject of being monitored at work? Do you think it is positive or negative? Why?


During the pandemic, employees were allowed to work from home, which prevented people from getting COVID. However, companies’ managers had less trust in the members who were absent from the office. This situation led to the rise of “bosswares”, which are softwares created for managers to monitor the workers.


In my opinion, companies should monitor possible dangers, such as leaking client’s private data and factory safety, which could result in huge damage. Micro-managing the above could be necessary, because companies can’t make any mistakes. Monitoring employees might have a positive impact on these tasks.  


Except for the tasks mentioned above, using bossware to check other departments might not be welcomed, because it could lead to a lack of trust between team members and managers. Once the team loses faith in each other, they would work inefficiently, as people might become suspicious and take more time to make decisions.


I think companies using bossware should better consider different situations. Most people tend to be lazy, so proper surveillance can eliminate it. However, too much monitoring might cause people’s resistance, and it could be bad for creative jobs. Flexibility and proper control are always important topics for companies who want to manage their employees better.
